Elizabett Yashneva

Elizabett is a Russian Speaking Project Officer who is about to graduate from Birkbeck College with LLM Law General.  Her dissertation focuses on the rights and legal protections available to private businesses and investors in Russian energy industry.

Elizabett used to work as a Research Intern at GPG. She provided support to the team across various projects such as Anti-Corruption in Honduras, Human-Trafficking in Sudan, and the Establishment of the Education Centre in Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine. She has rejoined GPG in August 2020 and currently is working as a Project Lead on the establishment of the Human Rights Committee in Uzbekistan on monitoring international obligations in Human Rights.

She holds a BSc in Politics and International Relations from Cardiff University and MA Human Rights from UCL. Her MA dissertation explored the effects of mass media on the social-identification of the conflicting groups leading to the development of hostile behaviour and stereotypes towards the ‘out-group’ using the Russia-Ukraine 2014 conflict as a case study.

Apart from Russian and English, Elizabett speaks French and is developing her language skills in Arabic and Italian.
