Roger Usher

Roger Usher is an experienced business leader and an internationally recognised authority on the design and implementation of enduring government reform programmes in Africa, Asia, the Middle East (including Palestine) and the UK. He was formerly the Chairman and Managing Director of Adam Smith International where he led the firm to become one of the leading consultancies in government and economic reform in developing countries, growing the organisation from £6m to £40m (50+ staff) and leading the management buy-out. He established offices in Nairobi and Delhi to develop the business in East Africa and South Asia. Prior to joining Adam Smith International Roger was the partner and head of the government consulting practice at C&L/PWC. He has worked with government ministers and senior officials in the UK and with international organisations like the United Nations, World Bank, Asian Development Bank and the African Development Bank. Roger started his career in the British Civil Service where he rose to become a senior civil servant in a number of public policy roles as well as a spell as the Private Secretary to the Minister. Originally graduating as a physicist he studied at the Harvard Business School and the London Business School.
